Windmills at Frasergaunj
|
As I was having morning tea in a street stall, the unmistakable sound of Hayabusa grabbed my attention. And then some more other superbikes paraded through the streets. It was Sunday and they are out to enjoy their machines. But it really takes a big heart to ride, not a big bike (well, unless you already have a big bike). We had our plans for the Sunday too. As Pallab arrived, after having another tea we rolled on our bikes.

En Route
|
We were going to Bakkhali. I have planned to go there by cycle many times but no plan succeeded. So this time I was finally going there. We were wandering through the nooks and corners of Kolkata streets. Pallab was leading our team. It took us really long painful hours to reach a free enough road where we can finally enjoy the ride. As we reached NH12 after Usthi road we really relaxed. It was less crowded, with full of greenery and without those ugly speedbreakers.

Namkhana River

When we reached Namkhana Bridge it finally felt like travelling. Until now it was as if we were on work! This new bridge made travelling to this part very easy. Otherwise we would have to cross the river by ferry. After a lot of photo shoot we marched forward towards Bay of Bengal. We went straight towards Bakkhali Beach. Most of the shops are open. A few hotels have opened up. A lot of govt bus was coming from Kolkata. So there were few tourists on the beach. And as time progressed, few more tourists were coming out to the beach.

At water's edge |
Truely speaking, I personally didn’t like this beach very much. A few strolls on the beach and we were heading towards Henry Island. But to our badluck, it was closed indefinitely. We came back to Bakkhali again to buy some aquarium supplies. Then we planned to visit Frasergaunj.

Frasergaunj Beach |
It was already high tide. And the beach looked like a movie setting for a wild western piece. Big windmills, broken ships, dead sea turtle, ruins of houses, sand and cactus. And not a soul there. We two prepared for a Mexican stand off. After a lot of battle and running in the beach our time was over. We called it a day, got on our horses, and headed back the long, twisting, busy, crowded road towards our home.

Namkhana bridge again in return journey
|
Well, as we started returning in the noon time and it was Sunday, traffic was very less. It took us less effort to return to Santragachi. Then we split our ways. The trip went exactly as planned, except that we could not enter Henry Island.
