Day 3
On the 3rd day, there was no conflict in my mind. My mind was set up for multiple days ride. Body had started to get accustomed. So as soon as the alarm rang, i was ready to ride.
I woke up, packed my luggage, set up the cycle and started the journey. It was around 5:30. The sky was dark, a few drops of rain were falling. So I thought the temp will stay low that day. The route was simple. I will ride upto bankura, then turn towards khatra. After reaching khatra town, will turn towards mukutmanipur. In those early hours whole Bishnupur town was sleeping. Only one or two people were there. I really enjoyed riding in the empty streets which other time stays very busy. In no time google took me out of town streets and set me on highway. Then I started searching for a tea shop.
After having tea I started the journey again. The road was very good. The cloudy sky made riding a breeze. There was ample tree cover in the roads. But one thing i noticed that i had to stop frequently. May be just for a minute, but i had to stop. May be this is the result of being out of practice for 3 long years. Though it is not a problem for me as i had plenty of time. I started to stop for a sip every now and then. This solved the problem. In the previous two days i was drinking while riding the bike. Bankura was not very far away. One thing I realised that it would have been really hard for me to reach bankura as i had planned the previous day. It was really wise of me to discard that plan and finish the journey at Bishnupur.
After bankura the road road started to become hilly. Viewing the gradual ups and downs injected me with new energy. I started to push for the climbs and enjoyed the free decent. But i had to keep in mind about knee pain. Though it didn’t show up that day, but i had to be careful. At the junction where i had to turn towards khatra, i was a bit confused. Asked a few people then found the right path. There were vast open lands in both side of the road. Only after a few kilometer after bankura town I entered state road. This was a narrow road but with dense tree cover. Also the traffic was less. At the junction there was a beautiful statue of Birsa Munda. There were man made plantations in many places but no natural forest. Along this route i had reached Khatra town.
After Khatra I turned towards Mukutmanipur. The road started to become more hilly. Then suddenly a very beautiful curve and just after completing the curve a very high climb. After completing this climb I found another very big climb. I couldn’t continue. After this long journey my legs were tired. But the gate of Mukutmanipur was tempting me at the top of the climb. So i took rest for a while in a closed shop then started the climb. After reaching the top I went straight for the dam shore.
The dam was beautiful as always. As this was off season, crowd was less. Then started to look for a hotel. Found one, but just a bit over my budget. I was too tired to look for another hotel, so booked one room after a little negotiation.
Valoi cholchhe adventure.
