Plant tree ride- Day 1

Day1

Atleast this plan was not abandoned. I started the journey on june 3rd as planned on World Bicycle Day. I have also promised myself to aware people about tree plantation through this ride. After completing the ride I will plant a tree for each 100 km that I will ride. Posted about this idea on Facebook and got very good response from my friends but it will be a success only if the people who liked this idea also plants atleast one tree each.

 On june 3rd i had some appointments in the morning so i had to change the plan accordingly. I had planned to ride upto midnapore that day. It is a well known road to me so riding in the night will not be a problem. I also had two flashlights fixed on my cycle and had a reflective vest on me. So safety wise there was no problem. I finally started the ride at around 3 pm that day. Weather was very hot but I thought temp will decrease in an hour or two. Initially the ride was very good. I was excited because I didn’t thought that i will be able to do this ride. The road was very good. But then around 4-5 km before panskura the road went bad. Road construction was going on. They have scratched the road surface with jcb. It was a nightmare to ride rode bike on this road. I kept on riding on a snail’s pace. Only after reaching highway the road got better again. It was getting dark too. And the sky had turned dramatic. From there it was a smooth ride upto mohanpur bypass road. When i reached mohanpur bypass it was dark already. Also, the last time i took this bypass it was a simple right turn on the highway but this time i could not find it. I missed the turn and went ahed , then came back and asked the police person about the turn. They showed me the underpass which leads to that road.  After that i went straight to midnapore. There i stayed at my friends place.

After finishing the first day’s ride I realised that I would not be able to ride upto Bishnupur on the first day itself as i had planned earlier. Lack of practice in the last 3 years was showing sign on my body.
