Black horse's short outing

Sunrise over Rupnarayan River

For the last couple of days Facebook was constantly showing me memories of last year's trip. Gossip mongers have started spreading that I have left cycling and now only cares about bikes. Black horse was being restless in my room. Abhisek Tunga was in town with his bicycle. How many more influences do I need to bring out my Black Horse and ride her? Oh by the way, Black Horse is my road bike Trek 1.5. I Christened her last year in the tour of south bengal elephant corridors as Black Horse.

Waiting at Nimtala

We decided to meet at Nimtala at 4:30 am. I reached there and informed Atanuda, as he wished to join us on his bike. Finally me and Tunga started from Nimtala at 5hrs. The lonely morning road, cool weather, just a dim light in the sky made the journey enjoyable. We planned to ride to Gaonkhali, (yes, a few days back I went there on my Himalayan. It is the only place we have worth going!) along the riverside, and we would return through the main road as last time. I was hurrying a bit to reach the road along the river as I thought the sunrise was going to be spectacular.

Riding past the brick klins

This road is just beside the river!!

It was not so spectacular. But the sky had a subtle color in it. Tunga was focused on training. But I was more of a leisurely rider. I had stopped a few times, clicking pictures. Our progress was slow. At around the halfway, Atanuda reached us blowing up a smoke of dust. We were on cycle, he was on Duke. Its no good to make him ride with us. So we told him to go ahead. And he vanished again in cloud of dust. As we progressed, we again found him on the riverside clicking picture of his beloved bike. We rode on.

Atanuda on his Duke

At Geonkhali we stopped infront of the bunglow. Simultaneously Atauda reached there. A little photo session, a little discussion. We didnt spend much time there as our goal was to ride back home before the sun become harsh. So we headed towards a tea shop for a little refreshment. After a cup of tea and snacks, we didnt loose much time and started our ride back home.

finally reached Geonkhali

Three Musketeers

This time I was in front. I tried to keep the speed  above 25kmph. This was my maximum potential. After a full year gap, to maintain this speed was enough for me. Tunga was far more comfortable than me I guess. I was not uncomfortable, but this was the limit that I could maintain comfortably. Anything more than that and I could have been uncomfortable. Anyway, we reached Tamluk in very short time. The most favorable fact was that it was cloudy the whole time, so we didnt have to face harsh sunshine at all.
