Short trip to Ajodhya hill top

29th was Saturday and our class ended at 12 pm. Again class will resume on Monday 8:30am. There was no point in wasting this much time in hostel. So we planned a short trip to Ajodhya hill top which was approximately 90 km away. I called Kausik, he also agreed. And we four, me, pallab, sourav and kausik headed towards ajodhya on two bikes.

We had started late, around 3pm. There were many routes of reaching the place but we choose to go via chandil. Upto Balarampur road was good but too much traffic and pollution from industries made the journey unpleasant. Only relief was the weather. There were plenty of clouds in the sky. At Balarampur google showed a shortcut, we also confirmed from the tea stall owner where we were having tea. So we continued on the shortcut road. In no time we were climbing up the hill.

The winding roads were mostly lonely, only a few people on cycle occasionally. Suddenly google showed that we had reached our destination but we were in the middle of no where. Then again we set the route properly. It showed 10 more km. Sun had already set. Armed with our bike headlights we started again for hill top. It was a thrilling experience riding in the dark on the hill roads with our headlights illuminating only a part of it. In due time we reached hill top.

There was plenty of hotels to stay. We booked a cottage type room. It was a single room with four bed and a bathroom. In the background was jungle, though in the night time we didn’t know that.

In the morning we started late, around 9am. First we took a heavy breakfast then started for Upper dam. On the way we stopped at Mayur Pahar. The view from its peak is splendid. We spent some time there then went to Upper Dam. As summer is not the season for tourists the area was deserted. Only we four were there and a group of tiktokers! They were doing idiotic things. We took some photographs then headed towards lower dam.

We planned not to stop for lower dam but ultimately we stopped on the road overlooking the lower dam.  It looked beautiful from there. We enjoyed the view from there. Water level was low in the reservoir. From there we planned to head for Bamni falls.

The road from lower dam to bamni falls was pure off-road. New road construction was going on there. It was fun riding on that portion. At bamni falls we parked the bikes and started descending down the stairs. In the midway there was the upper falls. Its a small falls but looked good. We enjoyed there then decided to head back as it was close to 12pm. For return journey we planned to go by the road through Dimna. Then we would be able to visit the lake also.

While going down the road we came across a place called Matha. A lonely place with dense jungle and a unnatural beauty to it. There we came across Pakhi Pahar. It was a hill which had numerous stones in its foothills curved by a sculptor named Chitta Dey. So we turned towards the hill to visit this artwork. There were many small and big sculptures scattered around the foothills. It was an added bonus to our trip. Then finally we headed home.

The road upto Dimna was perfect for riding bike, smooth black surface with less traffic. Then we reached the other side of Dimna Lake. This side was the natural side which I liked more than the other side which generally people visit. Then we followed the road which almost encircled more than half the lake. We enjoyed the view of the lake from the bike itself, we didn’t stop there.

From Dimna Lake within a few minutes we entered Jamshedpur town. It was a shocking transition from the green natural jungle into grey concrete jungle. We headed straight towards Kausik’s home where hot, steamy mutton curry was waiting for us courtesy his wife Nabanita. It took all the tiredness of the day away.
